Parenting and nursing school?

I'm looking for personal tips and success stories as far as having a child/children during nursing school.

I'm a single mom to one, and I fear that I won't be able to be around much when I start my program in a few months.

Although my child will only be 3 when I start, I'm just super nervous and needing encouragement. I have family willing to help out, but I'm also looking into daycares which I hate thinking about. Any tips and advice?

Thank you.

My son will be almost 2 when I start Chamberlain BSN program. When I started searching single mom threads before starting school again, i read alot of success stories. Maybe they will post here.

From what I read the things said was to know going in that it will be hard, have babysitters, LOTS of coffee, and learn your study method so you can adapt that to some sort of on the go studying.

Its great you have a helping family and daycare as backup :)

It's very hard. The ones who succeed are the ones who understand you MUST make dedicated study time a priority. Don't consider studying while your children are awake and under your supervision to be study time. It's not.

You have to have significant support to make this work.

I am a mother of 2. I am in my last semester of prereq's (my 5th to be exact) I get my letter in April hopefully telling my I am in the RN program. Being strict about a schedule is what has helped me. I don't sleep more than 5 hrs a night. Love your baby when you can, yes you will be tired, they don't stay small for long. My son is 8 my daughter is 16 months..I am exhausted, but I am doing it for them. It doesn't get easier from what I have been told, but it is do-able. Just breathe, eat well, get over sleeping, study, and love your baby.
