Paranoid about starting LPN school...I don't want to waste time! HELP

Published

Hi my name's Skylar:jester:, I'm very new to AllNurses and only recently realized Nursing was the career for me within the last year. I live in Hernando county Florida and I'm 17, applying for admissions into the LPN program at PHCC this fall. I ask that you all pray for me to get in because I really really really want to get in and start my nursing journey! After I get my LPN I'm going into the LPN-ADN program at PHCC...the thing is...I'm worried about the economy and getting a job asap... I know experience is a big deal but how will I get any experience without any EXPERIENCE? You know what I mean? I want to get my foot in the door by working as a CNA as soon as I'm 18 ...and hopefully getting a job as an LPN as soon as I graduate so I can work through the rest of nursing school. Since I'm young I know I should get my BSN or MSN but how hard is it to get a job right out of LPN? What's the best possible way for me to get all of my education...I'm not interested in taking classes online, I'd rather get that classroom and clinical experience and my goals are eventually travel nursing and working in ER, ICU, or PICU...and I read on a certain website that you couldn't work in critical care without a Bachelor's degree!?

Critical care/ ER are really what I want to go into nursing for...I won't mind working in a nursing home or clinic for experience but not as my ultimate career goal.

Do most hospitals only hire BSNs or higher? What should I do!? I'm lost:uhoh3:

Specializes in Hospice.

Good luck to you. if you plan working in a hospital consider RN... in my area... hospital dont hire LPN..
