Paramedic transition to RN school

Published

Hello everyone. I am new to the site and looking for information on EMT-P transition to RN schools online. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Specializes in ER, IICU, PCU, PACU, EMS.

Hi tprmedic!

I'm a licensed paramedic in Texas going through Excelsior College. You may want to check them out and see if it's the right program for you. So far it has been a great experience for me and very doable while working, having a family, etc.

I know NC has several programs with a 15 month transitional program into nursing. I have heard from several Paramedics going thru the Winston Salem State program that it's pretty cut and dry. You have to go to Winston Salem 2 or 3 times but, thats not much to get an RN...unless you're in California :)

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to check the program out. Thank you.:)

Hi Medic2RN,

Thank you for your response. I'll check out Excelsior. I have around 100 credits towards a BSN. However, I work FT and can't finish the conventional way do to FT swing shift work, family, etc. I am so close to finishing my degree but, I would have to leave my job for a year which I won't do. I love my job that I have now, but I'm thinking of my future also.

I am a little hesitant with online programs. Any source of info about the school and its program would be great. Thank you.
