Palomar, Mira Costa, MSJC, etc. Fall 2018 ADN Programs

Published

Hello everyone!

I am not sure if there are any other threads like this one, but I wanted to start a big discussion on everyone's experience as we all push through this crazy rollercoaster of ADN acceptances/rejections. This is for anyone applying to Palomar, Mira Costa, MSJC, Grossmont, or any other Southern California ADN programs!

Hey everyone!

I applied at MCC and Palomar for the Fall 2018 cohort with ~79 points. I received an 85 on my TEAS, 3.67 Science GPA, 3.2 Fixed GPA. 5 points for CNA as well as 5 points for 100+ hours of relevant experience as I work in a hospital. 3 points for fluency in a language. and 1-2 life experience points.

I applied to MSJC because I currently go there, Glendale, and Cerritos.

Any advice for getting started with pre req ? I'm graduating high school in June and was accepted to multiple universities but I hear it's to hard to get any science classes until you have 30 units under your belt so im thinking of going JC route. Any suggestions? TIA

Where did you do all your pre req

A suggestion would be to get your required GE classes completed. I entered my JC with 23 units from a previous college and when I started the call semester at the jc, I took only 12 units and they were GE classes. This was before I started my science classes.

I got my science and majority of classes completed at MSJC.

I jumped right in to taking my Science courses because high school AP Bio, Chemistry, Physics, etc. was still fresh in my head. I took 3/4 of my sciences over the summer semesters (because most people aren't crazy enough to take A&P and Micro in 8 weeks). It took a lot of focus, determination, and WORK ETHIC, but I did it. My GE classes came after once I felt I was burned out.. I could "relax" with my degree elective requirements. :)
