Members are discussing the status of their job applications for various nursing positions, including ICU, trauma step down, neuro acute, and med surg tele. Some members have received rejection emails, while others are still waiting to hear back or have seen their application statuses change from "new" to "in process." There is speculation about what the status changes mean and whether interviews have started.
Started new forum for new grad RN's who will be applying
Jennifer O said:Hello, I had an interview today for the neuro acute, med surg and surgical acute. They had posted 3 more new grad positions a few days ago for ortho and surgical. The interview was not what I expected at all, everything was scenerio based and they didn't ask any questions about my experience, who I was and what I can contribute. I blanked on some scenarios as they were very unexpected questions. I definitely don't think I got the job but just be prepared for all scenarios if called in for an interview. I applied as soon as the position posted which is how I think I got an interview cause I heard they only push the first 100 apps through.
Thank you so much for this! Were the scenario questions based on the unit? Like for med surg did they ask med surg type questions?

Yes it was very unit specific. For Neuro I got asked about how to deal with confused patient, med surg was wound care questions. It definitely is different interview than what some of my other friends had (they got fun questions for different units like cardio unit like what they bought on Amazon and like one scenario and one friend got hired) but I think because they had so many applicants they asked these hard questions to just weed out people for these floors. Me being probably one of them weeded out LOL but I'll know by end of week if I got it or not. I definitely wasn't as prepared as I thought as I was basing it off what other people interviews were like but at least I know what to look for next time

How did you hear about the job openings? Is there an email list you signed up for?
