Palomar College Nursing - Spring 2024 Cohort

Published

Hey y'all!

I wanted to start this thread to welcome the Palomar nursing applicants for Spring 2024. I've seen these forums with other colleges like Grossmont and City. The application just closed, so I can't wait to hear from you guys . Please feel free to reply with your thoughts, comments, questions, points, TEAS, acceptance, or anything. Good luck everyone who applied!

I'm applying with a mid to high 80s depending if the personal documents get accepted!

Anyone got word if they made it off the standby list? Im getting worried I won't get in this time since no one has dropped.

Have you checked what number you are on the standby list? I have a friend and she was 11 at orientation and is now 4. So the list is moving.

I think I'm on the standby random so I don't know if it's two different lists. I got an email stating I was 3rd on the list initially. I emailed them since I was scared that I must have deleted the email and they said I am still on the list. So I don't know if I might get in. They did say on the 8th we will get an update and to apply again just in case

I got in off of the point standby last week! Looks like they've assigned 36 clinical rotations already but the deadline for most things is the 12th so you should most likely know by then

Well guess not ment for me this time then. I applied for next semester in case I get in again. We will see congrats to all that got in

Don't let the lady at the uniform shop convince you into buying things from her bc she's pushy LOL. Buy one or two uniform tops from her. She didn't have comfy scrub bottoms when a lot of us went so if you don't like them get your pants from amazon or love scrubs that are the same brand/line and same color. Something like Cherokee workwear revolution WW105 in pewter color. Buy the SNAP t-shirts when they open up orders so you don't have to wear the uncomfy uniforms.

I wouldn't spend any time brushing up on A&P tbh just focus on what they give you as soon as they give it to you. Most of us have the Littman classic since we'll use it when we graduate too. Get whatever is within your budget. When you get your student id card buy the clear badge holders and a badge reel from amazon bc the name tags they give you ruin your shirts. You can clip the name badge onto the reel too. There's open lab where we went to practice skills which is open on Tues 10-4, Thurs 10-4, and Fri 9-3.

You'll have to go in sometimes to practice skills and get signatures (we usually went on Thurs). If you fail a skills exam you have to get 2 peer signatures and the open lab instructor to have sign off so you can retake the skill when time comes. Don't worry if you fail b/c everyone does at leastttt once and it's often over something small but try not to haha. When we went it was only for a couple hours but if you get to a bed immediately when they teach you skills in class you'll cut down that time a little. We started school Aug 21 then we had exams on 9/5, 9/25, 10/23, 11/6, 12/4, and then final on 12/12. Yours will be different bc it's Spring and they'll give you the whole outline when they open canvas up for you. No quizzes but skills exams every 2ish weeks.

You're welcome haha you'll get used to it all. You can ask all the questions you need. You'll sign up to get a peer mentor and they'll help you out too and if you're lucky you'll get me(; If you don't vibe with yours, message me after and I'll help any of you out.

Heyyy, I just got accepted and I'm trying to find any info online before orientation LOL. Are there any books you'd recommend? Thank you !!
