Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

hello all!

i am looking for any information that anyone can give me in regards to the lpn program at palm beach state college. is it hard to get into the program? how many people are admitted each term? will volunteering at a hospital increase your chances of getting in?

i currently work in the accounting field and i hate it! i can't stand sitting at a desk all day! i will be graduating with my as in business in december and have pondered going into the medical field for a little over a year now. i have no medical experience and i've heard that it is very hard to get into the rn programs around so i decided that i would work on obtaining an lpn certificate and then go from there, perhaps one day working on an rn degree.

any info would be helpful! thanks in advance.

Thanks to Barbiewants2bANurse for the information i appreciate it do you by chance know of any nursing homes that hire newly certified cnas

I've decided to begin the pre-reqs for the RN program (I'm going to apply to RN and LPN program for the Spring 2012 start dates and hopefully I will be accepted to one of them.) In order to apply to the RN program, starting in August you will have to take the HESI exam. I did some research online and found that McGraw-Hill's Nursing School Entrance Exams study guide is supposed to be helpful with the HESI and the TEAS exams. I went ahead and ordered a copy so I could start studying now. It's only $13.00 on Amazon.com

TiAndMoe,

How has your first semester gone so far? I've decided to begin the pre-reqs for the RN program, starting in January (should be done by the end of summer.) I am shooting for the Spring 2012 start date. I am going to go ahead and apply to both the LPN and RN programs. If I don't get into the RN program, hopefully I will get into the LPN program. Then after that, I can try to get into the RN program again.

Hope the progarm is going well. I would love to hear how it has gone so far, what your experience is in it, etc. :D

hey dreamgirl87,

no, sorry unsure of that, i know wellington regional hopsital is looking for cna's. check them out.

I am currently in this program and would not recommend it to anyone who is serious about furthuring their nursing education. Sure, it is one of the cheaper LPN schools in the county; However, you simply cannot put a price on education. I have put so many miles on my car driving to so many different clinical sites where the instructors have been late, outside smoking, not available for my questions, etc. The instructors (with the exception of one) DO NOT INSTRUCT. They send generic emails, eat in their break room and gossip, and expect you to know everything, without telling you what to do. I honestly dont know how I am still able to go to class every day. And the program director is an absolute joke. She hasent been a nurse in 30+years and wants to be an army sargent instead. We are paying to be beaten up and abused. The bookstore didint have our books this class because the program director was too busy to order them. I've taught myself at home every night reading my books and without them we are destined to fail. With a program that has a 46 PERCENT GRADUATION RATE (had i known that i would have never tried so hard to get in), its no wonder with the unorganized teachers, clinical instructors, and absolutely deficient director that this program is a failure in every way. I'm sure they will be at a 10 percent grad rate in 5 years unless they get rid of a few people. They are racist, dont grade tests right, dont let you sufficiently go over them, and have no mercy on people trying to simply get ahead. They care about their wallets and their stomachs. DONT APPLY TO THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
