Paediatric Nursing

Hi all

We are gonna start the long road to finding out if we can all move some where, yet unknown in the usa.

Wife is a childrens nurse @ birmingham ictu childrens hospital for just over a year now.

But have heard stories that her qualification here in the uk wont mean nothing in the usa?

Any idea how we go about finding out what we need to know?

Im a self employed plasterer who works for myself so would like to stay in the construction industry but dont really mind.

I think once we can kind of find out about wifes job first we can see if a move to usa is for us!!!

While im here, whats the chances of her getting a job before moving out there permanant?

thanks a million

moved your thread to the international forum where it is more appropriate. and welcome to allnurses.com.....................

there are many things that would need to be done before she can even be considered or offered a job. licensure is one step that needs to be completed first. we have a primer at the top of this forum for all of the information that she will need to get started. suspect that she did a three year program for the peds nurse specialty. we also require that she had clinical and theory hours in both maternal health as well as psych to be able to get permission to sit for the licensing exam here called the nclex-rn. one must select a state and then apply for licensure there as an rn. would recommend that she complete the ces, which is a credentials eval done by cgfns to see if her coursework meets all of the requirements for licensure here in the us.

i would start with that, and then go from there.

please do some reading here on this forum concerning the retrogression that we now have in place and the expected several year wait for a visa. the green card is the only one that would also permit you to work, plus with not having the bsn, then there are no other visas available either.

best of luck to you. and please let us know if you have any more questions.
