pa board discipline

Can anyone tell me if you've had a complaint filed against you with the pa nursing board, do they automatically check your background as part of their investigation into the matter or do they only investigate circumstances relevant to the complaint. And secondly are there any nurses out there who have had discipline appear on their license and how has that impacted their employment opportunities? Is it a death sentence. Im am trying to decide whether or not to agree to enter the voluntary recovery program and be evaluated and risk having recommendations made for follow up and there fore have to give up my job until its determined or continue working and let the state sort it out. its a long story but short end i got tested got mad quit the job with out validating a legal prescription i had for valid reasons, never abused never diverted neve addicted. stopped taking the medication (i no longer needed to take it) got another job then get this letter from the state. if i let the state sort it out i can continue to work until its settled, up to and thru an appeal and hearing with the board if it goes that far. or quit my job now, agree not to work go thru and eval by a drug rehab facility, follow their reccommendations if any (um if they are a drug rehab wouldnt they financially benefit from reccommending some kind of follow up since they would be administering it. but i have misdemeanors from ten yrs ago never reported and havnt been an issue for me gaining employment. still i didnt report them so now im afraid to go either way. does anyone have experience with going thru these investigations and gaining employment should any disipline get handed down. Or should i just do the voluntary program thing and suck it up. i have serious issues saying im an addict and going thru 3 yrs of all thats required when it isn't true, just to avoid a black mark on my license. any input would help me decide. thanx
