Overwhelmed Nursing Student

Published

This semester has been by far the toughest. I failed my first nursing exam, with a 76 passing is 79 (Med Surg 3). Thank God my average is still 83.5. Three weeks ago, my aunt was murdered. My cousin and I discovered her decomposed body. She had been dead for 6 days. I was unable to study for almost 2 weeks. I cant eat, sleep or concentrate because of this traggic event. Even now, I am not functioning at my full capacity. I am having trouble concentrating and retaining information. I do not want to fail because that would be another blow for me this semester. I still have to take the final on May 12, with so much information, I dont know how well I am going to do.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just remember your Aunt wouldn't want this to stop you. I'm sure she loved you and would want you to succeed, so give it your all for her...I know you can and I'm sorry this happened to you.:heartbeat(((hugs)))

I'm so sorry to hear you've been going through so much this semester. Is there anyway you could possibly withdraw passing now and retake the class next semester? One of my classmates had a similar situation, he was able to withdraw passing and came back to school at the start of the next semester, no penalty.

I will talking to my instructor next week and see what she thinks I should do. She has been so supportive throughout the whole thing. I am also stressing about maintaing a high gpa, I am in the honor society. I just dont want to pass with a low grade. I received two scholarships so far and do want to mess up my gpa.
