Overseas volunteer work- Yes or No?

I have recently been thinking about committing to working overseas but I don't know where to start or whether my skills have any value in a developing context. I have eight years of general experience and would be interested in any suggestions or stories of challenging assignments.

I would be very interested in the positive versus the realistic negatives of this kind of work?

Hi,

I have a friend who regularly goes to Vietnam on volunteer work with other members of the group. She visits various hospitals, orphanages, and clinics, she has built up a huge number of contacts over there and just loves it.

Some big ones are Australian Vietnams Veterans Reconstruction Group, Project Vietnam Australia, and this is just the beginning.
