Overrated & Underrated Nursing Schools

Published

Hello,

Lately, I have been hearing so much talk about nursing schools that are overrated and didn't provide the best education. As well as the opposite of some being underrated, but with excellent education.

The reason why I am posting this thread is that soon I will be in the process of applying to Nursing schools and I'm feeling a little bit skeptical. If you guys want to share your experience as well as, if you don't mind, your nursing school, and any advice you have and/or received about a certain school, I would be grateful to receive it.

I am looking to apply anywhere in the US-- so any advice helps, thanks in advance!

My take is this; nursing school is what you make of it; however there are schools out there known with a "stellar reputation."

There are some stellar schools in my area that have a great reputation; some schools are tiered subsequently; I went to a school in my area as what would be a "second tier school"; however, my alma mater has a great reputation amongst area hospitals during clinicals, making graduates able to land a position; I landed my current position due to the relationship that my instructors had with my instructors and my school; I also have secured positions because managers were an alumni of my program as well.

I have found that making nursing school the most of it, as well as building my practice and networking has shaped me to achieve my best nursing practice; schooling is just the beginning.
