Overheard in the ER

Working in the ER last night a patient was overheard on the hall phone talking......" After they finish my CT scan, I will meet you at the bowling alley".... Not kidding!!! I think that was reason enough to cancel the scan!! :eek:

lmao!!!!! :chuckle you actually act like your suprised? :eek: you mean you haven't heard stuff like this in the past? :chuckle i have heard similar stuff many many times!!!! needless to say, those are the people that get there last, and the first to complain!!! :rolleyes: oh well such is life! we all know the system gets abused. the only problem is that it's the non-abusers that get penalized in the end!

I meant to go back and ask the doc if that person asked for a work excuse as well!

i doubt it. they don't usally think about a work excuse, at the time. they usually show back up after they decide to go back to work, and the employer asks for one.

fortunately it has been a few days already, and that er doc is usually not around. so we ask, did go to your referral follow up? oooooppppppppssssss :eek: guess not? that's where you get your work excuse! :chuckle

Not ER related (sorry), but on the subject of system abuse... We always get post partum patients that deliver, then want us to babysit while they go to parties, baby showers, etc. They don't want to be discharged, just get a little LOA, while we take care of their babies :rolleyes:

And the fathers of these babies, who show up for the first time on the day mom and baby go home, and ask for parking & meal passes, and of course, a work excuse.

Get this. Chick ate at a fast food restaurant, got some abdominal discomfort so walked to the drug store for some SYRUP OF IPECAC because the finger down the throat didn't work. Proceded to induce vomiting.

THEN called 911 and was brought in by AMBULANCE because "I threw up and felt shaky"

She gets the lame award !

History of Anxiety, Depression, and of course Anorexia

Funny thing I saw her in the movie theater a week ago with her boyfriend and she actually appeared functional.
