Outrage at low pay in FL

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I relocated from NY to FL almost a year. Thankfully, I had a telecommuting position and was able to take my NY salary with me. Florida is expensive, especially South Florida. I don't love my job but it pays the bills. I have been looking at possibly exploring opportunities her in FL but my goodness the rate of pay is quite dreadful and honestly, I want to cry everytime I see salary postings.

I'm just puzzled as the rate of pay does not equate to the cost of living here. Can someone please explain why is this the case and what can be done if anything to advocate for a more fair salary for RNs and LPNs alike

Even in researching NP salaries for FL as that's my goal I'm quite disappointed.

The pay rates still don't really measure up. The cost of living really isn't that much less from what I'm seeing. Only thing you save on down here is housing and that only depends on where you decide to purchase a home. I've found that there are some other things that in fact cost more.

@ MinnesotaBeagle, BSN, RN Take me with you lol. Where is your new job going to be?
