Outpatient to Inpatient

Hi All-

I am currently working in an outpatient surgery center, and I'm thinking of making a transition into the inpatient OR. I have two interviews coming up for a residency program that will last 6 months. When I started at the surgery center I had no OR experience. I was trained 4 weeks by my administrator. It's been a year now, and I really want to learn more and get challenged.

I sure enjoy the hours and no call, but I am limited and feel that I will not get further in my career. My long term goal is to become a nurse educator in the OR.

How does the inpatient OR differ from the outpatient? Do you all think this is the best move considering my long-term goal?
