Outlook for a Psych ARNP, Who Has A Master's Already In Psych

Published

Hi there! Next week I am graduating with my master's degree in clinical psychology. I was on the path to be a therapist but after my internship on a psychiatric inpatient floor in a hospital I decided I wanted to explore the medical side of things and become a psych ARNP. I have a few more pre-reqs I must take before I can even apply to nursing school, as my undergraduate degree was in psychology and not nursing.

I'm wondering if anyone could please enlighten me about the career outlooks for this field. I'd also like to know if there are any programs in which I can go straight to a master's in nursing and skip the bachelor's in nursing. I heard that you MUST have a BSN to apply to be an RN in Florida, a master's alone won't cut it. Please let me know! If not, are there any programs that you can get your bachelor's and then master's within the same program? I don't mind moving from Florida.

Thank you!
