OUT OF JOB for almost 1 yr in July '12

Published

I lived in Chicago for about a year and worked in 3 different nursing homes as an LPN. My last job I just sucked it up and tried to stay for as long as I can (7months) until my BF and I had to move to Tennessee. The plan was for me to go back to school and get my RN while he pretty much supports me. However, I'm going to have to pay the out of state tuition which is around 4K / semester!! I refused to pay that much so I tried to look for a LPN job but alas, I have not gotten any luck.

Its been quite depressing with no call back for interviews. Once I even tried going without an appointment or interview but just my luck the recruiter was actually in a different state. Anyway, I'm starting to feel really useless and loosing all my skills!

I realized maybe the reason why no one is calling me is because I moved so much in the past 3 years (3 different states) and my nursing jobs are all less than 1 year =( Also, my last employment was in July 2011

I don't know what to do. I even tried applying as a receptionist because I need the money but still no interview

I know there are other LPN's who didn't get a job after 6-8 months but I'm starting to feel really dumb and depressed sitting at home doing nothing but "domestic" work. Something will turn up right?? It usually always gets better.. right????

Go to the internet or the yellow pages and make a list of employers. Fix up your resume and other employment docs, to include your little list of past employment, references, etc., and hit the bricks, dressed to interview. You never know when you will be interviewed and hired on the spot when you go in person. A good bet is to try the home health agencies. They are usually looking for people and will often hire you on the spot if you just walk in, or they will give you an appointment to come back for an interview. Good luck.

THANK YOU! I will try that!
