Nurses General Nursing

I am in nursing school and just found out I have osteoporosis. Trying to decide what to do. This is my second career. I am in my early 50's. Can I reasonably expect to perform on my feet for such long periods? My Dr advised me not to lift heavy things and I know nurses have to sometimes lift! This definitely was a shock.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Just want to offer you some support.

I'm a student as well.

Being a nurse doesn't necessarily mean you will have to always lift heavy things alone. If you work in an area where the patients are typically alert and can move all parts of their body, then you shouldn't expect to really lift.

Ask your doctor what your limits will be. I'm sure you will find a position that will fit you well. Good luck to you.
