Orlando Tech for LPN

Published

Curious if there are any current or recent Orlando Tech LPN students on here. Am seriously considering attempting to apply for their September program.

Specializes in none yet, aiming for cnm.

I went there, along with me sister and friend of ours. oh, and her bf is currently attending. We all like it. I just stopped in the other day to visit my fav teacher, and they,re getting all new simulators to learn on. They have pulses, bowel sounds, and lung sounds. The teachers are good. The hardest part of the program was the fact that they don't really interview the applicants, so you have to wait it out til the bad ones fail. But i feel well prepared. and so did my sis and our friend.

Thank you for your info. I see on their website they have healthcare program orientations every Thursday at 8 AM and 12 PM and I'm going to try to attend this week and get more info. I hope it's not too late to enroll in their September full-time day program. I guess if it is I can always try to get into SCC's January 2010 program, blegh.

I've noticed there are so few LPN programs around the Central FL area.. it sucks. Not counting the private LPN schools that charge out the wazoo.

Hello,

I am also looking into the different LPN schools in Orlando...Orlando Tech seems to be a good option...not sure if you are looking into the different scholarships that are offered (I still have bright futures and am wondering if that is applicable at OT). I am also essentially interested in an RN program but I feel like this is a good start.

Hi danielj91.. unfortunately there's not a whole lot of options when it comes to LPN schools in Orlando. I'm going to attempt to make it to the orientation session this Thursday: http://www.orlandotech.ocps.net/getting_started.html .. however I need to call them first and verify that it's still happening, and where the hell it's located. I've never been to Orlando Tech before so I will be totally lost, lol.

hi. i went there for my cna/pct. take the amelia st. exit off of i-4. it's actually right across the street from the amway arena.

good luck and take care

Went to orientation today at Orlando Tech (had car problems last week and couldn't make it). It looks like a really nice school, and everyone there was really friendly. I decided to go ahead and take my TABE, and I passed it. LOL I was so nervous during the math portion.. even though I'm taking college algebra in community college right now, it's been a while since I had done some of that simple math.

Hoping to take my NET test next week.. the lady told us that there's only 10 seats left for the September class. :o However, if it fills up by the time we turn all of our stuff in and are accepted, we can choose to be put down for January program and if an opening in the Sept. class comes up they'll stick us in.

Alright, off to go study for the NET. :D

Hi everyone, I've been lurking at allnurses for a while and finally got around to making a username. Anyhoo, I'm a current OTech PN student graduating May 11 (YAY!) and I recommend the program to anyone wanting to go into nursing. It's a good all around education and I feel like if I were to sit for the NCLEX today I'd do well. You can utilize your bright futures scholarship, however you will have to stay on top of the financial aid office like you're their mother. It is the county, after all. You will get a lot of clinical experience and take any learning opportunity you can, I can't stress that enough! After all this is your education. Once you're an LPN you can transition into any LPN-RN ADN program, those usually run 3 or 4 semesters. OTech is intense, anything less than an 80% is failing and we have lost people but in my class we have really stuck together to help anyone out who is struggling. You'll have clinicals at Health Central Park, ORMC, Lucerne, Children First, and Winnie Palmer, in that order, followed up by a last senior rotation back at HCP where you act as charge nurses. I go back to HCP on Monday for my last rotation. Read, read, read your books! You'll go through highlighters like they're tissue! Study hard, work hard, and you'll do great. Good luck on the NET!!!

I PASSED THE NET YESTERDAY! Yay!! :yeah:

Now I've just gotta get the physical, dental exam, references, and transcripts done. :D

Hi, I'm also looking into the program at O-Tech. I've been unable to get any info on the hours and start date of the night program. I live an hour away and work full time during the day, so I won't be going to orientation for a few weeks. I've also tried calling and was unable to get a live person. Does anyone know?

Yay for passing the NET! I got pinned today, and it makes all the blood, sweat, and tears so worth it! Tonight I start the rest of my pre-req's for RN school!

when i called orlando tech earlier this year, they said they only start the evening program every 18 months...the next one doesn't start until august 2010, FYI.
