Orlando area questions

Published

I live in California, I am moving for lower cost of living and to be a homeowner eventually. I am considering Orlando (FL) or Dallas (TX).

I have some questions to help me make a decision.

1. Is the pay and available jobs for LPN as bad as what some people are saying??

2. I'm worried about Hurricanes, a lot of people assume CA is a scary place to live because of Earthquakes, but we do NOT have earthquake Seasons every year like FL has hurricane seasons. I'm looking to build a life and hopefully stay put, don't want to be boarding up my windows every year, but I don't know much about the Orlando area and hurricanes. Please Inform me;-)

That's it. THANKS

Hey, me again...I can't answer you about the LPN pay because I haven't gone through school yet, but as far as the hurricanes...I've lived in California before, been through a big quake (I think it was 1989) and you know what I like about hurricanes? You know they're coming! There was one freak year here in 2004 when there were four big hurricanes in one year but it hasn't been repeated since. Of course no-one can predict the future but given past history, it just doesn't happen that often. And the other thing is - living in Orlando, you're in the center of the state so any hurricane would have dissipated considerably by the time it got to you. Now living in Tampa - that would make me nervous.
