I have always wanted to be an OB nurse. That was the main reason I went to nursing school in the first place. I graduated May 2009 and am working in a SNF, it was quite literally the only place hiring new grads. Anyway, I ask how does one get the foot in the door to maternal/infant unit. People say join the organization. I have been looking at AWHONN, it looks like a great org but I was wondering other than the discounted CEUs and UTD info, how does it help you to land a job? Do recruiters look at that? I was thinking of joining and maybe taking the fetal heart monitoring, would that help? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
