Hello! i recently graduated from an associate's nursing program (in june), and am starting my career in the operating room. are there any OR nurses that have any advice or can in general let me know what to expect? Obviously every institution is different, but there has got to be some universal truths about OR nursing! Any advice about starting a nursing career would also be helpful, OR or not. My anxiety is heavily based on the fact that orientation is 9 months long ( ! ) - obviously it's something that is going to challenge me beyond anything in nursing school, but i'm eager to learn as much as i can.

Hello to all out there, I too recently joined the OR team and felt that this was a place of whoa for me. It has now been one month that I have been in the theatre and now beginning to come to terms with what it is all about. I have a preceptor who is really showing me the ropes and also some very helpful scrub techs.
Need some advice on a few good books that I can purchase in order to help. I have final exams in October and was wondering if all you qualified OR nurses out there could give me an idea on some of the books that I could use in preparation for the theoretical aspect of it.
