Options for friend who failed out of CUNY nursing program?

Basically all undergraduate CUNY programs are now closed to your friend. Some have mentioned one of the ADN programs in Queens (IIRC) will take those dismissed for academic reasons from a previous CUNY program, but don't know the exact details.

Your friend's other options are to seek a private school for his or her undergraduate nursing degree, or obtain a BofS in another major then try for a "second degree" BSN program.

Just beware that many nursing programs both private and public have restrictions on admitting those previously dismissed from another program for cause academic or otherwise.

I'd try to see if the current program has a sort of appeal/reinstatement policy and first try that option if offered.

My final piece of advice is standard. Just jumping back into a nursing program without correcting the problems that lead to dismissal from a previous isn't going to help. That is if your friend was barely hanging on academically at a CUNY school he or she isn't going to find things any easier elsewhere.
