Hi all,
I'm 31, started this journey as a nursing unit clerk and am now close to finishing a 4 year BSN program (finishing year 3 this semester and expected graduation date is Dec 2017).
Because a few people who take the accelerated 3 year program have dropped out, there are 'extra' spaces in their cohort.
We have the accelerated students with us in our semester now and in January for semester 7. At the end of semester 7 (April 2017), they will break for 2 weeks and then start semester 8 (preceptorship) and graduate in August whereas we (4 year program students) will get all summer off and start semester 8 in the fall.
I inquired with our program coordinator lead, and she stated that it was possible to move over and join the summer group and graduate early, but that I would need to submit a proposal outlining why I would like to do so.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can persuade faculty to let me so I can graduate early? I'm a strong student and am really looking forward to getting out into the workforce. I won't be without my usual friend group because semester 8 is all preceptorship so we won't see each other anyway. Convocation is only offered in June so we will still all cross the stage together at the same time in 2018.
I don't want to make my reasoning that I want to graduate early for the sake of graduating early - any convincing ideas I might be able to put forward that will look good on paper?
Thank you!

Explain that you're 31 and eager to get into the workforce and believe that your track record at the school, plus your work experience, justifies moving you up to the 3 year track.
