Opinions on Buffalo NY hospitals

Published

I'm in the process of submitting applications for travel nursing in Buffalo, NY. What hospitals in the area are considered good/bad? I don't want to take an assignment anywhere that is a mess. Thanks for any input!

I used to live in Buffalo years ago, so my opinions may not be of much help, although I don't think hospitals may have changed much. Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) is the big trauma center there, and from what I recall it was in a rough area of the city. But if you're looking for action and teaching hospital experience that is the place. Millard Filmore is a smaller hospital but in a good area. The Catholic hospitals were decent as well, there are a few of them. Roswell Park is a cancer hospital and is actually well-renowned if you are specialized in oncology. I used to live near the VA hospital, but ironically don't know much about them.

The VA would be good as would ECMC you would see alot of exciting and new (especially at VA) things and learn alot from both. The patients here in Buffalo aren't bad to me it's the people you work with. Alot of the people here are miserable sit and complain about being here, theres nothing to do blah, blah. Life is what you make it and if you have a degree that allows you to travel anywhere use it to do it and be quiet. Sorry just my little rant but back to your question if you get an offer for one of the two those are the best
