Opinions on ADN Programs near Pearland/Friendswood Texas

Published

So I'm finally done with my prerequisites and have taken my Hesi Exam. When application dates open I'm planning to apply to San Jacinto and to Alvin and possibly College of the Mainland. I've heard mixed things about all three of the schools so I'm wondering what your opinions are on them and if you know of any in the Friendswood/Pearland/Clear Lake/ areas? I'm not looking to drive more than 20-30 minutes and I live in Webster but I'm having trouble finding programs in my area via google search. Thanks!

Take a look at THIS. It is a spreadsheet with NCLEX results of all TX programs for the last 5 years. As you can see from that data, Alvin is producing the best results. However, keep in mind that acute care hospitals in the major systems in the Houston metro area are only hiring BSN grads these days, so this will have an impact on your employment options. There are still plenty of opportunities for ADN nurses in non-acute settings, but you should have accurate information from the get-go.

Wishing you the best of luck on your nursing education.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I plan to get my BSN after my ADN but I need to get working for a bit first. I applied to Alvin last semester but hadn't finished my prerequisites yet and didn't take any classes there, it was very competitive. I had a friend who made A's in all her LVN courses in Alvin's program and made a 100% on her Hesi and still didn't get in. I'm still going to apply again but I doubt I'll get in. I would work on some of my BSN courses next semester while I wait to get into a program but I'm afraid I'll have too many hours that won't transfer to a BSN with ADN courses.
