Operating Room question

I am about to accept a job offer as an operating room nurse but I have a few concerns. The hospital I am going to be joining is a very small acute care hospital that will almost exclusively be doing cases such as c-sections, D&C's, lap choles, etc. Just your basic surgeries. No ortho, no plastics, no traumas. Will this limited experience prevent me from getting a job in an O.R. with more advanced cases in the future, i.e. a level 1 trauma center?

Secondly, will staying at a place like this for 2 years give me the proper preparation to take the CNOR exam?

In my opinion, someone with no OR experience vs someone who has experience with "basic surgeries" will not get hired over the person with the experience. You're building a foundation of knowledge and can only go up from there if you so choose!

Not sure about the CNOR exam.

The CNOR exam requires two years of perioperative nursing experience, with at least 2,400 hours. If you are working full time, you will easily meet that. The challenge would be with the areas of OR nursing with which you aren't going to be familiar. You'd need to do quite a bit of studying and self education.
