skin preps for open heart surgery

Please let me know your procedure your hospital is using to do your skin preps for open heart. What type of prep solutions you are using and how long do you prep for. Thanks

We use a long complicated prep procedure. The Pt. showers in Hibiclens the night before surgery. Our NA shaves (with clippers) chin to toes day of surgery. We elevate the legs and wash with Hibiclens chin to feet...dry off, change gloves and Duraprep chin to groin. We then use 2% Iodine tincture circumfrential around the legs and feet and coat the genitals last.

in our facility, the pt's are shaved and take a shower with chg the night prior to a cabg, rinsing sparingly. prior to the procedure, we use betadine scrub and paint, drying between applications. that's it.
