Have you ever heard of part time nurses working only 4 hours a day?

This might be possible on a floor with 12h shifts where someone had permission to work 8s. Then they could use someone to cover the next 4 hrs. Also could be part of a job sharing arrangement.

When I worked in LTC, at least two of the facilities had 4 hr shifts for a nurse (or nurses) to come in to help out with a med pass. The DON of one facility hired me for this 4 hr shift with the understanding that I would go full time the next time she had a full time opening. Lots of people would do this as a form of working PT, getting their feet in the door, for extra income or waiting for a FT position.

we have some who are scheduled for 4 hrs on certain days just to cover lunches. other than that; they are as needed.
