Hello, I'm a student currently hoping to go in to OR nursing and I've heard several people suggest that I get a certification to work open heart surgeries... How do I go about that? Is it worth it? Is it a long process?
Thanks!

I've never heard of such a certification. Who is giving you this advice? Other nurses?
Yeah! I've gotten that advice from more than one nurse.

There is cardiac-vascular nursing certification and OR nursing certification. However, there is no "open heart OR nursing certification". Additionally, certification implies that one is proficient in that particular specialty. Both of these certifications listed require years of experience before being eligible. Any certification that is an option for nurses without experience is, in my opinion, suspect.
So weird... thank you!
