Ontario RPN to RN Bridging into Fall 2022 - Trent, McMaster, UOIT

Published

Hi folks, just wanted to hear if anyone else on the forum is applying to bridging this year or if they are currently in the program/what's it like. I'm applying to both Conestoga/Mohawk McMaster, Trent compressed, and UOIT.

Got an 85% cumulative avg in my RPN program last year, did my Casper Test on Feb 1. My Casper test results put me in the second quartile (25-50%) range so that has me nervous about my chances at getting admitted. Anyone else do Casper or if they got any early offers of admission yet for 2022?

Hey, I’m also applying to UoIT and have yet to hear from them. I did my Casper for McMaster as well (Mohawk and Conestoga). Do we need to upload our CNO license for the supp app part of for Mohawk / Conestoga?

I applied to Trent compressed and Ontario Tech too, so far I haven't heard anything. Have you heard anything this week? I did my Casper the latest date, so maybe that could be a reason why as well.

The application site for McMaster did not explicitly request a CNO license upload, so I did not attach it in my application prior to February 1. UOIT required it however so I uploaded mine there.

I just received a letter from UOIT (so that was quick), unfortunately I didn't make the cut, hope everyone else has better luck with it however.

Hey vanhelsing! Did you hear back fro UoIT ? And did you apply to both Barrie abs Oshawa campus?

I haven’t uploaded my license yet since I’m from BC so I’m in the process of transferring my nursing license!

Hi, I've applied to the George Brown-Trent bridging program back in November 2021 and got an offer of admission on Feb 24.

I did my Casper test also on Feb 1 and landed a score in the same percentile as you. I got a 3.5 GPA in my RPN program back in 2015 in case you're wondering

I hope that you'll hear back from the other places you've applied to!

Yeah I also got the letter from UOIT I didn't make the cut as well. Let me know when you hear from Trent! It says online Trent are sending offers mid to late March. I won't find out what percentile I'm in until April 1 cuz I did my test March 1. Good luck!

I heard back from Trent Compressed and I got in! They sent an email!

Nice! I also got an admission offer from them just recently.

Hi everyone!

so I’m a Georgian rpn student with 78 avg ( gen ED brought it down ) and I’m upset that I’m almost done the program and  covid schooling  made it harder  me from getting a higher avg. that said I’m really trying to stay positive.

Anyone that has been accepted to any bridging program, what was your acceptance avg? Do you know someone with a lower avg that got accepted? What school?

should I delay my graduation and take the gen ED class again ? Or new one ? Or is there better ideas?

thank you for your time reading ?

Hi Bella!,

I share how you feel about schooling during covid, it suckeddddd. But I wouldn't be so discouraged if its caused by a general elective. I think nursing core courses carry more weight than gen ED when it comes to admissions decisions, but if you're still concerned I would discuss it with admissions offices about how to proceed before taking a gen ED course again.

On another note, I do know that UOIT's bridging program provides an opportunity for applicants to bump their admission grade up if you take university courses/nursing certificates (by up to 12% total) if you're interested in their program. University of Ottawa's bridging program has an admission requirement of 900 hrs of work experience, so that could be an advantage for some as it disqualifies people who jump into rpn->RN immediately, and benefits those with work experience.

I myself didn't get into the RN program on the first try, so I went to get my RPN and now I'm here with y'all. Life's weird like that. But I hope the rest of your studies go well

Hey, I hope you're doing well.

I was in your position before. I graduated with a 3.5 average in RPN school. I wouldn't advice on repeating courses. Some universities do not accept repeated courses. I'm currently at UOIT for the RPN to BScN bridging now. My best advice is to take an elective/core nursing courses (Coronary Care, Nephrology, OR) and do well in it. Then use these to apply at UOIT to increase your chances of getting in. I wish you the best of luck!
