Hi I am a BSN student set to graduate in December. I am interested in becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Drexel University (in Prennsylvania) has a program that is almost all online. However, I have to find my own clinical sites AND I cannot do my clinicals in NY. Does that sound surreptitious to anyone? Is it likely to be difficult for me to find a clinical in NJ and Pa while working in NY?
Also, where can I find information on the PMHNP exam?
Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Hi
You might have some logistical problems doing clinicals in other states, I take it you have to do this for licensure reasons, or perhaps school reasons. I would not, however, rule it out if you really want to go this route. Your work schedule might be a little crazy. But you are a nurse, so you are used to that! Also often the school must have some kind of "contract" with the agency to which students are deployed, this is for liability and other reasons. Thats how it is where I work (CT). There is some limited info. on the PMHNP exam at the ANCC site. I wouldn't order their book, there are better ones out there. Also, I found experience in psych. really helped me sail through the test. Best of luck!
