Nursing Students NP Students

I am currently applying to Boise State University's online AGNP program- start date is Jan 2014. The program is new, this is the first cohort. I am a bit nervous because the program is so new, and their accredidation will be pending a site visit once the program starts. The cost is $600 per credit, they help with finding clinical placement in your area.

I am also looking in to George Washington University- any other recommendations? Or any advice about either of these programs? I want to make sure the school is reputable and competent.

I am emailing the student contact about some questions I still have before deciding :) Are you going to Boise for sure?

Congratulations, TheThinMan and pacnwRN. I probably should have mentioned that I live in Boise, so my letter arriving early was just by virtue of proximity. Out of curiosity, where do you two live? I am assuming Idaho since you received your letter just one day after I received mine.

I am actually in Washington State- It's about a 7 hour drive to Boise from where I live.

I'm hoping to get a little more info about the program's progression plan for classes, as well as clinical placement. Have either of you been able to speak to anyone from the college yet?

I live in Northern Idaho. I haven't spoke with anyone yet but I will probably call or email them tomorrow for further information.

Boise State was my first choice. I sent my LOI today.

I sent an email yesterday but still haven't heard back- hopefully will get a response tomorrow :)

I got an email response back, and let me tell you how impressed I am with boise state university! I'm going to be sending a letter of intent today. I'm so happy they coordinate preceptors for students. I felt like that was important in program after i did some research. Maybe we could make a facebook page so we can all can keep in touch during the program?

I went to BSU and met in person with an advisor. They have the whole program mapped out by semester and will be sending a folder that includes this information soon. The 1800 fee is the total in-state tuition for a three credit class. It is not an add-on. There are roughly the same number of male and female applicants. The oldest applicant is 55 and the youngest is 22. The majority of applicants are from Idaho, but there are quite a few prospective students from neighboring state, and there are a few from the east coast as well.

So then the program is a 600 dollars per credit, even for in state residents? Do you know how many people were accepted?

The cost is $600 per credit for in-state residents. I cannot confirm that this is true for out-of-state residents. (but you can because you are an out-of-state resident.) The majority, but not necessarily all of the applicants were accepted. (I could elaborate a bit on this last statement, but I prefer not to on a public forum.) I recently tried enrolling on broncoweb, but I was not able to, maybe because my LOI has not been processed. I have not yet gotten the folder that I talked about, but I did get another BSU letter today with a different contact so the information is trickling in.

Just received my folder today. It helped to answer a lot of questions. I am looking forward to the start of the semester!
