online for 1st nursing degree

Published

There is a school here where you can get a BSN online. I've already been accepted to another nursing school, but the online degree intrigued me b/c I could get done a lot faster, however I know it would be even more stressful than the traditional nursing school, if that's even possible lol. I don't already have an RN degree or a bachelors like most online degrees require b/c this one doesn't have that as a pre-req. I will still do the clinicals and have a lab. People tell me this wouldn't be smart to do b/c I wouldn't have peer support or support from faculty. What do all of you think?

* edited to say that I already have my pre-req's done, I'm just trying to decide b/w which schools I would like to go to.

I checked this program out. I even spoke with Ms. Rushing, the eline advisor, for about 30 minutes this morning. The program is set up for Texas only right now due to the clinicals. They are not set up in other states. The program is NLN accredited. There are 3 start dates for each semester. If your science classes are more than 7 years old, you can take the Pathophysiology and this course will take care of the old science dates. Also, you have to had taken the State Texas History course before you can start the online program. She gave me http://www.vct.org. It is a consortium of community colleges in Texas. One school offers it this summer online for only $215!! Also, you have to have the 2 US History before and after 1865 and Political Science. If you already have a degree, they look at the last 60 hours for GPA. Also, they look at Master's if you would like. She even told me that I could fax in transcript and she would indicate which courses they would accept. The modules are self paced. I am not clear on the modules, even though she tried to explain.

Sounds interesting. I have been accepted to an accelerated program but I am having problems trying to come up the the $25,000 tuition, moving out of state expenses, and just food & shelter money! My thoughts on the traditional class room and studying with other students. Studying with other students doesn't work for me. Someone cancels; is late; I'm late; I cancel; we talk about everything under the sky; there are too many know it alls in the group! 2 undergrad majors, 1 graduate degree and 4 nursing pre-reqs later, I am still "humping" by myself! Just my 50 cents worth!
