Online RN to BSN programs for people with previous Bachelors degrees

Hello there, I'm wondering if anyone knows about online RN-BSN programs that are "shortened" for people with previous non-nursing Bachelor's Degrees. I have my ADN (2 year RN) and a BS in biomedical sciences, yet most programs I look into don't give a lot credit for having a previous degree so getting my BSN would still take like 1 1/2 yrs. Which I am not willing to do considering I'm really only missing public health classes, super frustrating!! If anyone is in a program where they gave credit for a previous degree, I would really like to hear about it! Thanks in advance!

I think most Universities offer traditional shortened programs for RN to BSN but if you are looking strictly for online I'd check out University of Maryland. I don't know if you need to do anything in person or if its all online but they have a program. Good luck, Jules

I'm curious ... How is it that you are only missing the public health courses? Did you previous degree really include all of the usual material covered in a BSN program? Did it really include nursing theory, nursing leadership, nursing research, etc.?

A lot of schools have online BSN programs that can be completed from anywhere in the country. I happen to be familiar with the one at Old Dominion University, but there are many others. They are ideal for someone in your position as they are usually generous about accepting credits from other schools. You may just have to look at several until you find the one that will accept most of your credits. However, I suspect that you will have to take more than just a class or two in public health at any school because the difference between ADN and BSN education includes more than just community health and a few liberal arts courses.

Let us know what you find. I am sure there are others with your same question.
