Online Programs... good or bad? Your opinion please!

Nursing Students Online Learning

I'm looking for an RN to BSN program and many of them are online. I'm definitely considering it because it will allow me to get experience while still continuing my education. However, I am worried that I will not have the same educational experience as I would in an actual school setting.

I would truly appreciate for people to post their online education experiences and whether or not you would recommend online education to others.

What was your typical "school day"?

Do you feel like you missed out on anything?

Thank you for sharing your stories! :)

You definitely have to have the dicipline to sit down and do the computer work. All school, whether online or in school must have the same academic requirements so that you can get licensed. So you would always get hospital practice along with your computer work. My experience with online programs (MSN) is TONS of writing and lots of reading and research online. But that is very typical for graduate programs. (Guess they want to see if you have reading and reearch, writing skills and are not a dufus!) Anyway, online is a good way to go if you have reasons you cannot get to school or it is more convienient to do it at home. The gas saving etc are valuable reasons not to go to a school. so pick what you want!

Associate program is the same amount of writing as class or online. Some colleges require fluff classes while most of the on-line do not. They get to the point. You still do clinical at a hospital, plus a 3 clinicals at the on-line college hospital site. I traveled to St. Louis 3 times for their program plus my regular clinicals in Georgia. Check out many different programs before deciding....you might save some time and classes. Good luck whatever you decide!

Hi Mema 1, what school did you go to?
