UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I am applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Accelerated program and also the traditional program. I wanted to start a thread since I haven't seen one yet. Anyone else out there wanting to apply to the program too? I am currently finishing my Microbiology and Anatomy & Physiology II classes and then I plan to take the TEAS VI this summer. Would love to hear from others planning to apply to the program!

I am planning on applying for this program. I'm still finishing up my prerequisites though. My chem 2 class doesn't end until 12/15, so I won't be able to apply until the deadline. I'm nervous about that!

If i'm not mistaken, you must have your science and math prerequisites completed with the transcripts submitted by 12/15.

Hello! I'm applying for the ABSN too! I'm so nervous about it! I'm finishing nutrition this semester and they said I need to have my final grade to put on the application by Dec. 15 but they need the final transcript into nursing CAS by Jan. 2. Good luck everyone!

By chance, has anyone submitted their application to nursing CAS. On the three application questions, when I went to type my responses, I could only type 600 individual letters and not words; so, it was only a small paragraph. I am just curious, did anyone else experience this? Because when I see 600 limit, I always assume words and not individual letters.

Hello everyone! I too am applying for the ABSN program starting May 2018. I'm a bit nervous! Does anyone know how long before we will know if we've been accepted or denied?

Yes, that happened to me as well. It is only allowing for 600 characters not words. =(

600 characters?? I thought it would be 600 words. I have a lot of paring down to do.

Yes, unfortunately I had to condense mine a lot... but I was able to get my point across. I finally submitted everything! They verified my transcripts, so now it's time to wait.....

Congrats!! That is awesome. Good luck! I can't submit everything until the deadline since I still have a class that does not end until 12/14.

I believe you can still apply unless it is a math or science course. As long as they get your transcripts and application by the deadline, but I could be wrong.

Yes, I was kind of peeved that I spent so much time writing my essays, and then oh, it's 600 characters. I'm excited as well; but nervous too. So many questions surrounding how the program works, the pace, the work load, how financial aid works!! Yes, if you they're not your science or math courses, then you can submit everything and send in the final transcripts before the program actually begins. What were your first degrees in if I may ask?

So I can share with you what I know about the financial aid situation. Since I have a bachelors already, I am no longer eligible for any grants. I can however still take out Stafford loans, since I haven't reached the maximum amount, which is $57,000 for independent students. But I'm probably going to be a bit short so I might have to either take out a small private loan or apply for scholarships. This information is just from the research I have done for my situation.

As far as the type of program, I heard it is very intense and you can't really have a job while in the program. There is a section on here where someone in the program gives a detailed schedule of what it's like being enrolled in the program, but I can't remember the name of the section.

Have you submitted your application? I have a BS in Health from UTSA. I'm super nervous! I also read on here for last years applicants, they found out if they were accepted or denied around Jan. 21!!! I feel like I will be waiting forever!!!!!

Yeah, that's what I was also able to gather on my own research as well. So, I'll be trying for scholarships because the idea of taking out more loans is not so appealing, ha.

Yes, I've already submitted my application and it has been verified so I'm just now nervously waiting. I got my BS in Medical Laboratory Science, so I am anxious to see what the course work entails. I just don't like the idea of not having a an income for 15+ months, and basically starting over. Have you submitted your application yet?

I also wish this threat would take off. I've been through all the other previous ABSN threads, and they had so much activity; however, This year seems pretty dead.
