Online RN to BSN vs campus

Nursing Students School Programs

I have been looking into getting my BSN, however i am curious if any of you have experience with online only BSN programs vs a university in your home town. Does it matter on your resume or when interviewing as to where you got your BSN?

That being said, I have been looking into Aspen University online Rn-BSN; anyone out there taken this program with this school? I know some have with the MSN program, but just curious about the BSN and if it is worthy. Thanks for any guidance!!

Hello,

I'm in my last semester in an online BSN through Umass Boston. It was 100% online except I opted to CLEP out of 2 classes which required me to physically go to the school to take the test. I have to say it was the easiest process and was not difficult. I don't feel I missed anything being on-line vs on-campus. As for as jobs, I can only say because my school was a traditional brick and mortar no one will know my classes were online. If your worried about it, have you looked into traditional schools that offer on-line classes? Such as UMASS Boston, Simmons, Georgetown, South Alabama. Most schools now are offering on-line classes. Maybe one even in your area.

Aspen University is not regionally accredited. This could affect credit transferability if you ever wanted to return to school to earn a graduate degree. They have national accreditation from the DETC and CCNE.

If you are worried about any negative reaction to an online degree you always have the option of choosing an established university with a brick and mortar campus like the previous poster brought up. Public colleges like Stony Brook and UT Arlington offer 100% online degrees. If your online degree comes from a public college, no one will know you earned it online.
