online job applications

Published

I have been applying for jobs online for a couple of months now and i haven't gotten any responses from anyone.

I have followed up on all my applications... still no call backs or e-mails.. nothing

I am beginning to wonder are online job applications a waste of time?

Is it really about who you know?

I have a great resume and great references as well. Do you guys have any tips?

I'm in the same boat. Sadly, it's the ONLY option because the large healthcare groups refuse resumes at their specific locations and refer you to their website so their centrally-located HR and recruiting department can screen them, and smaller offices refuse unsolicited resumes because it's a small staff and the manager is too busy to hold on to them if they're fully staffed. I'm convinced my name's been blacklisted by the largest healthcare group in my area! Just keep putting them in. Triple-check your resume to make sure it's accurate and has all your contact info correct and that it highlights your strengths. When possible, add a cover letter to your resume (some websites have that option, some don't) and keep networking. A classmate of mine told me about a job at her group, in a different office, and she'll email HR to keep an eye out for it. I don't know if it will help, but next time you put in an application or resume for a specific position, call that department directly and let them know you're interested in it. Maybe they can keep an eye out for it or let HR know that they know of an interested candidate. I've gotten tons of "your resume has been forwarded to the appropriate recruiter" emails, only to be followed by the "we have chosen another candidate" emails. Also, if it's a large healthcare group, make an online profile where you can check your application history.

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming.

I got my job after applying online. Most employers do everything online now, so the best thing to do is analyze your app sending. Are you open to the jobs you are applying to? Are you open to the location? I created a list of LTC, hospitals & Drs offices from San Diego to Sacramento (I live in LA) & applied online. From what I see your experience will differ depend on you. Also is your resume up to par? Keep your options open & APPLY.

I also got my job from applying online. I applied to hundreds of facilities, totally forget I even applied to this one. Applied online in December. Got a call in late February for an interview and got hired. Keep your head up! Something will come along when you least expect it.

I graduated in june and had no luck even with.getting.a.call back. Until i decided that for every app i put in online, i made a personal phone call to the facility, and left messages either on the hr depts voicemail, sometimes even the director of nursing. It works!!! I started getting.call backs.. I just had 2 interviews and got offered both jobs... The one is ft w benefits.and i never have to give a med, do a treatment, *** lol ???

I have never gotten a job with an online application (I shudder to think how many I've filled out)! I hope to reverse this trend because the job I want when I graduate RN school only accepts applications online :nailbiting:.

thanks everyone. I think im going to take the advice and just start calling after I apply to say that I am interested in the position...hopefully that will work
