We've all heard it, "pain is what the patient says it is." Hard to believe when they are on their cell phone, eating a bag of chips and watching TV. We've also all learned about guided imagery, meditation, breathing techniques to relieve pain. What have you suggested to a pt to relieve pain?

I have to use my magic wand judiciously; last time I used it on a co-worker, she claimed it was the reason she got pregnant. I told her, "Honey, it wasn't MY 'wand' you were messin' with!"
Also, a patient's preacher was NOT amused and told my agency I was practicing withchcraft. So I don't tend to carry it around with me everywhere, anymore.
