:rolleyes:Another ignorant article...midway through it, it compares crnas salary to a family practice physicians and claims, on average family practice physicians make 16,000 dollars less than an CRNA...aas if they're even comparable. Lets not forget it downplays a CRNAs education as well. Plz someone that is better at correcting stupidity...write a letter or something.

Jul 22, 2010 Specialist nurses paid higher salaries than family doctors - Mar. 11, 2010It's a balanced article that also gives the AANA perspective. It also says that MDs have 4 to 5 years more medical training, which is slightly exaggerated. I agree that FP needs to be paid more, but not because CRNAs make more money than they do.

In order words, the value of providing anesthesia services is higher than providing FP services. If the FPs want to make as much money as CRNAs, they should reconsider their career choices.

We are reimbursed better because we are high procedure and low overhead. FP, in my opinion, carries it's own stresses. Often running a clinic, dealing with crap patients that get mad because you didn't answer your phone at 3 am when they had a cough. Not to mention that you see a dozen throats in a day, any one of which could be throat cancer so you can be sued any moment. In a small town you may be the only guy around to do ortho, obgyn, peds, radiology, etc. I know an FP doc who has to spend extra time learning about transplant and immunosuppressants because one of his patients is a cardiac transplant and is 3 hours from any center that knows jack about transplant.Rural FP can be hard life and deserve way more than they make.
stanman1968 203 Posts Jul 26, 2010 We DESERVE what society says we do. Quite honestly a teacher or FP doc is far more valuable then the BEST athlete in the world, which one pays more hmmmm? Society determines what is fair, no one else.
