On-Line NRP???

Hey,
Anyone know of any online NRP programs?? I have been at my unit for almost 7 months now and I have no idea when my manager is going to allow me to go....soon I hope since I am moving in June!

I wouldn't reccommend doing it online, especially the first time. I don't even know if it's offered that way. The initial course is 8 hours long - renewals are 4 hours. There is a test, video, and hands-on return demonstration involved.

We do NRP during orientation now, but in the past we used to do it after six months on the unit. That's because we didn't let new nurses go down to high risk deliveries by themselves until six months off orientation, so we wanted NRP to be fresh in their minds. Now we let them "buddy" high risk delivery as soon as they're off orientation and when they feel comfortable and have gone down a bunch of times, they can do it themselves (we go down with an RT, MD, and RN per baby).

OMGosh KK! You've been there 7 months and are not NRP certified?? I read your other post too and it sounds like you have some real management issues. You have my sympathies. Good luck!
