Older Student/Over 60 years old

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone-

This is my first post, but I am curious....When I finish nursing school (if I even get in) I will be 62 years old. Is there anyone out there in the same situation? I am currently struggling through Physiology, and am not sure I can get the required B, but I don't have a lot of time to waste taking it again. Do you find learning is harder because you are older?

This is my final dream, to become a nurse. Done everything else I have ever wanted to achieve, but this just might be not possible.

Thanks

I am older and I’m going to nursing school, it is hard but I have several bachelors degrees and got one of them later in life so it is possible and because I look much younger nobody knows my age so that’s also a plus. Do it, you have nothing to hold you back don’t let anyone tell you you can’t

Thanks Charl, I SO appreciate the encouragement. I went through an NA program to get back up to speed on the basics. Now I'm just about halfway through an online RN Refresher course. It's hard! But I'm getting it done. I had a bit of a set back with some personal "issues". I hope to be working by late fall. That's really awesome you're going for it!!

Susan

I graduated from nursing school at 63 in 2017. I am no entering my 7th year med surg. For those who are looking into starting school later in life, go for it. We are living longer.
