Oklahoma Nursing Programs?

Nurses General Nursing

To make a long story short, I wanted to be a medical assistant but since it's about a year of college anyway I have decided to just go for LPN. Can I still work in a doctor's office as an LPN? That's pretty much the reason I wanted to be a MA. I would prefer to work day hours in a clinic or docs office. Would I be over qualified as an LPN? Also, if I decide I want to go for RN, what is the best school close to Tulsa that credits will transfer? I DO NOT WANT TO TRY TCC. I was considering Tulsa Tech, but who will except my LPN credits towards an RN in the future from Tulsa Tech? Financing is limited as I couldn't get enough of it for the $10,000 for med assistant school, however tulsa tech is cheaper for an LPN. I just basically don't know what other schools are around here--I am in Bixby.

I meant 12,000. OOps!! LOL!!!

It's even more expensive than I heard! That's outrageous...

Other than tuition, what else have you heard negative about Platt? They have a higher pass rate than TCC.

i went to platt in okc for my lpn.

No I'm doing my prereqs at TCC.

This fall I will be applying to all the nursing depts (RSU, TCC, Langston, OU - Tulsa) and make a decision from there.

Ah! Now I see the confusion!

You're comparing Platt's LPN program against TCC's RN (ASN) program.

Platt only gained their NLN accreditation, this year, for their RN program, here in Tulsa. Which the Platt pass rate is actually lower than TCC's. I couldn't figure out where you got your numbers. TCC does not have an LPN program so the only pass rates that are equivalent are the RN programs.

Have you had any negativity about your platt degree??? Were the credits transferrable? thanks!

Do you have any info on central tech in sapulpa? They have an LPN program and it says there is an 'advance option' for TCC's RN bridge program..What does this mean? lol

well i moved back home to florida and i actually have MORE credits in certain subjects then what Florida requires. I've had no problem transferring everything to the LPN to RN program.

All of my former classmates still live in oklahoma and i still speak to several of them, so far none have had problems at all and there are a few of them that have gone on for their RN. as for the LPN's, the work in all areas, hospital, nursing home, hospice, and NO ONE has had a problem. if i still lived in OKC i would go back to platt for my rn. i was very pleased.
