Hello, I am a nursing student and I live in the greater city of Norman, Oklahoma. I'll tell you a little about myself. I've wanted to be a nurse ever since I was fifteen years old and volunteered on this Peruvian mission trip. As of now I am taking my sub-core, or nursing prerequisites, at my local community college. My plans are to graduate from the community college with my associates, and then graduate with my bachelors in nursing at OU Health Science Center. After that my goal is to work as an RN for two years and then go back to school to get my masters.
So thats the next five to six years in a nutshell for me. This is literally my dream and I am fully intentional of succeeding.
I have two inquiries about the nursing field that I've always kept in mind: nursing in San Francisco and the nursing field and medicinal marijuana.
As quick as many would come to think that I must be a criminal for advocating the use of illegal drugs, the truth is that the majority of the midwest isn't realizing that this country is on the cusp of legalization.
From the earliest time I could remember, my father suffered from bipolar disorder. Suffering from manic depression to uncontrollable anxiety attacks. I kind of went through a similar period in my life where I thought that I had bipolar disorder (actually diagnosed with it at one time). One night, my dad was in an anger fit when my mom decided to interject and tell him to go see a doctor. Anyways, literally overnight, he was cured. And now, on a daily basis, he takes Abilify.
The way I saw it at the time was that my father was doing better than myself, so I tried Abilify for a while. The medication made me lethargic and non-motivational. I didn't know what direction I wanted to be in. And then one day, I found relief in medicinal marijuana. For once, I ignored my psychiatrists orders and stopped taking the Abilify and replaced it with a nightly routine of smoking marijuana. And now, all I can say is that I've never been so happy.
I've decided what I want to do with my life and that is work as a nurse in San Francisco, my favorite city in the world. I wanted to start this blog to get more input on other nurses' feeling of using and recommending medicinal marijuana.
