Thanks for asking!!
He was born on my mother's birthday, June 27.2007, that is actually his picture! He is my second grandchild and my mothers second great-grandchild! We are both in love with his beautiful face, but he is so far away. My daughter lives on base with her Marine husband and my first grandchild, their older daughter who is 2!!
I am so proud of my SIL! He was over in Iraq when his daughter was born in 2005, and I was in the delivery room when she was born via c section. My SIL was driving a humvee over there in Iraq and was almost killed when they drove over one of those bombs but it was buried about 3 inches too deep, so the front of the humvee exploded, but the guys were all safe! So, when he came home last September they wasted no time in putting in the order for my grandson.
He was born 3 weeks early via c section. My daughter had severe hyperemesis, had had 2 picc lines which both collapsed and had to be removed. At 36 weeks she was done with the IV's and said, I will just be sick for the last month. She lasted another week. Her enzymes were trending up again (she had pancreatitis twice during this pregnancy due to her severe hyperemesis) My grandson was born on 6/27/07 at 3pm, weighing a tiny 6 lbs 10 oz. He was grunting at birth, and had to be on a vent overnight but weaned to O2 nc by the next morning. He had a little jaundice and it affected him more than his bili level suggested it would. He went home at 12 and slept all day and night, My DD had to wake him to nurse, and at his 1 week checkup he had not gained an oz! So the dr did another bili and it was only 7, but my DD had to continue to wake him up every 3 hours which she has been doing since then. She says he looks like he is growing adn he is finally becoming more alert and awake since she started waking him up every 2-3 hours to eat. He is cute as a button, and I am planning a trip across the states to visit them all sometime next spring. I am bringing my son, the proud uncle Joey who is 5 years old! I can't wait till I see both my grandchildren again. It is very hard to be so far away from them.
Thank you for askin' it gave me an excuse to do a little braggin'
I am proud of all my kids (all 4) I have 3 DD's ages 26, 24, and 14. and my Joey who just turned 5 last month!
and my 2 grandkids as well.
And little Justin really is the cutest baby I have seen in a long time!

Congrats Angel,
My heart goes out to you. I know how it is having grandkids that live away from you. Even with all the technology and ways of almost being there, nothing can replace that feeling of holding those babies in your arms.
I have 2 sons, 3 grandsons and waited all my life for a girl. It finally happened 15 months ago, I got a granddaughter! However, because of Hurricane Katrina, we are all seperated. The drive for me is only about 3 hrs but the way I work and their busy schedule, it sometimes hard to get together. I don't feel like I know my granddaughter. She is still young but I know I'm missing out on alot.
When we both lived in New Orleans, we used to complain about driving 15 minutes in traffic to visit. My whole life has been turned up side down.
Enjoy your babies, even if it is from a distance.
Thank you Grandee3. I totally can relate. I want so badly to get this little guy in my arms. But this too will pass and there will come a time when I will be playing in the backyard with all my grandchildren, and so will you, I do believe it.
Have a great weekend!

What an awesome story!!
Thanks, I think so too.
DD took the baby for a checkup last monday and he has gained 1 lb 1 oz in the last week! So I think he is definitely on the upswing now!
