Ok Need Help On Living In Ct

Published

Hi,

I wrote as week telling everyone that my Husband and I might be relocating to CT because of his work. I am terrified because ITs hard for me to adjust to new places. HE will be working in Gorton. Can anyone tell me what areas are outside of Gorton that would be a nice place to live and has a great school system. Im just real nervous about having to move from Philly to CT. But will it be worth it? thats the question.. Oh and where do the lpns work that live in that area?

:uhoh21:

I think you mean Groton :) I dont live in that area, but have visited many times. It is on the shore, and simply beautiful. As is the case with ALL of CT, it is pricey.

Good luck on the relocation :)

I live and work 10 minutes from Groton. PM me and I'll fill you in. :)

if you want to stay right in groton there are many lower income units available there as well as new london, norwich,& waterford.if you are navy it should not be too hard to find units they approve of or live at the navy lodge until you can advance on the waiting list for housing.

there are several hospitals, numerous nursing homes and assisted living housing to find work as a nurse.we have many colleges and universities nearby to do more studies if you wish or to meet new people.

i think you will like it here and if you need someone to talk to give me a shout,by all means.[email protected]

CT Nurses,

Can you tell me what Waterbury, Stamford, Bridgeport,, and Danbury are like? As far as affordable housing, safe neighborhoods, places to shop, etc. How far from NYC are these places. Any insider input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! i'll be moving to Connecticut in the next few months. Can anybody tell me what stratford and newington look? how do they differ ? anyway, where can i find the most convenient place to stay that is affordable and fully furnished? please help

Connecticut and affordable can't be put in the same sentence; however, Connecticut has a charm that keeps most of us here. Stamford, Stratford and Bridgeport are all shoreline cities... stamford is closest to New York City; thereofore, it is very very expensive. Most business people buy multimillion dollar homes in the Greenwich/Stamford area, and commute to New York. Bridgeport is a port city; therefore, it has a reputation for being a tough and somewhat run-down place. I live in the Farmington area, where there is plenty of places to shop, lots to do, great places to work, and a short highway trip will get you to New York (2 hours), Boston (2 hours) or Cape Cod (about 3 hours). Danbury is by the New York border; is a large city with its share of problems, but a nice place I think... Newington and its surrounding area is north of Hartford, the capital. It has experienced the most growth over the past few years, and has many apartments in the style I've seen in the south - rental units with a common area, pool, and the like. I believe there are a number of job opportunities up that way, and its one of the nicest places to live in CT -- just remember, nice also means pricey. The average cost of a home in CT is a little over $250,000, according to a new survey. Of course, there are a lot of places where you can get a decent home for $100,000 or so, and I think Avon and Greenwich tend to bump up the prices of the 'average' home (I think the average home in Greenwich goes for just a little over $2.5 million).

Anyway, if you like mountains, rolling hills, or oceanside, Connecticut is the place for you... We are a small state, but that only enhances the experience, as you can do just about anything in a day trip, or a nice long weekend.

Best of luck to you!
