I am in semester 4 of 5 and I am having such a hard time motivating myself into keeping going. When I decided to go to nursing school as second career, which by the way I always wanted to do, I thought that all I need to do is work hard and get into school. Then all I needed to do was focus of learning and preparing for the NCLEX and being the best nurse I could be. Now I am busting my butt to keep up great grades working with so much BS that has nothing to do with teaching you how to be a nurse. Now not only that I have to keep the grades up while working almost full time but I am constantly freaking out that I will graduate and have no job. I have to say it's so depressing...:urgycld: I know I shouldn't be wining:vlin: but be thankful I am in a program but somehow things kind of feel bleak. Maybe I am just burned out... :dzed:

You are experiencing pre-graduation burn out. Usually this happens in the last semester. All I can tell you is relax and ride it out, It will all be over soon. If you have to study for a test for only 2 hours instead of 3 to keep your sanity then do so. You will still pass and when all is said and done you will still be a nurse weather you have a B average or an A. Keep your eyes on the prize and take it one day at a time. Prioritize your work and set goals for yourself. I used to write my due dates on the calendar and mini due dates. For example if a paper was due on the 30th of the month, I would write "start paper" on the 10th and then finish paper on the 27th so that I would have time to refine/edit and do the reference page. Try to manage your study time the same way. Set aside a couple of hours when you can, even if you have to get a babysitter and go to the library. Eat lots of takeout and don't watch tv--every minute counts. Also, having a clean house is over rated. The chores can wait and kids can help with them.
Thank you! You are probably right. I will take a deep breath:tbsk: and stay focused. I'll get there... I have to say, I love all nurses. This forum is the best.
