Ok, I got the interview

Published

I currently work at a community hospital who is part of a one of those big names in the chicagoland area. I am a nurse extern.

I am extremely interested in an ICU postition. I have one foot in the door already with the nurse externship for over a year.

Well i have an interview for ICU next week, but there are many other who are also interviewing for the position, and some are nurse externs like me! but there is only one position opened.

If i do not get it, I will not be crushed, suicidal, or even think of quitting nursing. I dont give up, i just try harder! Im new, and i cant expect to get everything, but......Any advice would be great, especially on HOW TO STAND OUT AS THE BEST! Any questions that you have been asked in your interview would be great too!

I am going to brush up on med surg and prioritization ( i am in psych now, and some of that has flown out of my head). I will practice those "what are your goals, strenghts, weaknesses' questions. I will read some ICU websites, etc.....

I am nervous but extremely excited!

Thanks for listening

So this post is a year old, How did it go? I am going to be a new grad next month and have already interviewed and accepted a job in one of chicagolands smaller hospitals.

Its not a year old ! ;) Interview is this thursday! Do you have any advice for me for interviewing? How did your interview go? What were some of the questions? I am very excited. And happy for you!

Thanks

Hi Silly...

Remember to give specific examples that back up your answer. Statements that begin with "for example", "such as", etc...

Allow the interviewers to get a sense of your thought process, your ability to connect concepts, and use details to explain the "steps" you would take.

Have you prepared a list of questions to ask your interviewers?

oh and don't forget to send a one page typed thank you letter to your interviewers immediately after your interview.

Good luck!

No advice, just wanted to wish you good luck! Hope to see you come back and post a positive outcome from this interview, soon! :)
