OHSU and other PDX area applicants for 2009

U.S.A. Oregon

I wanted to start a thread for those who are starting to apply to the local Portland nursing schools for 2009. Maybe state what school(s) you will be applying to and where you are in your process. I'm applying at OHSU OCNE and PCC. No need to state GPA or points or anything. I just mailed off my app to OHSU the other day, but still need to do my proctored essay. I sent the school the information for my proctor but have not heard anything yet. PCC will have apps available in December, so now I'm waiting for that. Good luck to everyone!

I got a call from OHSU today saying I was accepted to their ABM program!! (in midwifery) This makes me so happy! Their program looks incredible! Has anyone else who applied to the ABM heard back yet?

WOW! That was fast! Congrats!! That's so exciting!

I finished my essay for OHSUs OCNE, will be sending it out today. Good luck to everyone too :-) I know I will need it!

Now for the wait. Is it just you and me, deasiac?

I've applied to OHSU OCNE as well. I can't believe how long we have to wait. We will be out of town when the letters are mailed. My husband has his 8 week Sabbatical and we will be traveling all of May and June. You can bet I'll be calling my neighbor and asking them to open my mail!

I've also applied to PCC. This is their last year of doing the lottery. Next year they will join the OCNE program. I saw on their website they will hold their drawing on March 20.

I think there is a bit of a problem with PCC. So many people are being rejected because of the date of their reading test. I was going to apply there but I took my reading test too late. It all seems really silly to me.

WHAT??? I took my reading test in the fall, so I'm sure I had plenty of time, but why would the test date matter as long as you got all the required documents into the HA office by the deadline?

At the risk of asking something obvious, when did they tell you that they'll be sending out decisions? (Around May?) I don't remember ever asking them, I just assumed before April-- for some reason.

I saw on OHSU's FAQ page that letters are mailed out on June 1 for the OCNE applicants. I would LOVE for it to be earlier, I hope I'm wrong about the June date!

Just heard from OHSU grad school and was accepted into the FNP program for fall of 2009. Anyone else go? Please contact me off list. Congratulations to everyone else.

I got my lottery number from PCC on Saturday. Anyone else get theirs or still waiting? We'll see what happens, just wait for the luck of the draw I guess!

I also got my lottery number for PCC! Best of luck! *fingers crossed* :)

I just found out that, because they increased the size of the Acc Bacc cohort, the incoming OCNE cohort will only be 27 people. (There's only so many faculty, not to mention clinical sites, to go around).

WOW....there's goes my chance! Oh well. We'll see what happens. How did you find that out?

I just saw the posting of lottery numbers on PCC's website. Mine was not chosen. Oh well, that's okay. DH got an interview at Duke for a job he applied for several weeks ago. He'll be going early April for his interview. Hopefully he'll get the job!
